A book cover is the very first thing a reader sees and I understand how important it is to get it right, to create a cover that catches the eye and draws curiosity. If someone sees your cover and picks up your book - we've done our job well. My work is rooted in stylised digital illustration with a strong emphasis on translating themes and character presence. Rather than creating generic templates, I approach cover art as a visual interpretation of your story.
Process
Detailed brief
Once you get in touch we'll discuss in detail what your vision is and what you hope for your cover to convey. This will involve you sending me:
- a synopsis or overview of your story, including a detailed description of your characters and the genre
- themes, mood, or atmosphere
- important visual elements
- references and inspiration (including any book covers you love)
- whether any special textures will be involved
- whether you want back cover art additionally, lettering, internal accents
This helps establish the direction before any work begins and gives me a chance to ask you any questions to ensure we're on the same page.
Concept sketches
Based on all the information received, I'll provide you with 3 rough sketch concepts based on your brief. You select the direction you'd like me to develop further.
At this stage, you can request minor changes to the sketch you would like to proceed with and I'll refine the sketch further before moving forward. When the sketch is finalised, the overall composition and concept of the cover are decided.
Development stage
Once the final sketch is finished and refined, I'll proceed with refining the linework and show you rough colour blocking to establish the overall mood and palette.
At this stage, you can request adjustments to:
colours
atmosphere
smaller details that do not change the concept
Final refinement
One final round of minor revisions is included before completion.
This includes:
colour adjustments
small detail refinements
Major compositional changes or complete concept changes are not included.
When the artwork is finished, I'll send it to you in the dimensions of your book and agreed file types.
Pricing
Book cover art begins at 550 EUR.
Payment is taken upfront via Stripe or PayPal.
Pricing is listed in EUR, though I’m happy to accept the equivalent payment in GBP or USD as well.
Pricing may increase if your request is more complex and intricate, but I'll let you know if this could be the case beforehand. Prices are finalised upfront.
Please note commissions are non-refundable.
The final results will be sent digitally in the agreed upon file types in the dimensions needed for your book.
Timelines and details are discussed individually before any binding commitment and depend on complexity and availability. On average, commissions can take around 2 weeks upon receiving payment.
